Bacchus Solomanos has succeeded in sacking the town of Argidava, after a brief siege in which sides threw insults and other detritus at eachother, Solomanos launched an all out assault on the walls and overwhelmed its defenders his men slaughtering the inhabitants to a tea.
Other news from the siege it is being reported that Justin Dukas asked for the opportunity to launch the assault on the main gate but was refused. No doubt this will affect the young man.
Notables involved: Bacchus Solomanos - Magister Militum per Illyricum Flavius Liberius - Comes Rei Militarias Justin Dukas - Tribunus

Gaius Porcius had sweat still drying on his back as he cleaned and oiled his practice armor. Nearby a Tribune spoke to someone in the armory lane, perhaps a trainer of his acquaintance.
"They are slaughtering good slaves at Argidava,"he said. "Why win a battle then kill off the captured defenders like sheep."
Gaius tried to resettle himself to listen more closely. (Mark? Other?)

His fellow trainee smirked ar Gaius, shook his head and quietly commented...
"Perhaps they are trying to set an example, but I doubt our Emperor agrees with such practices."

Just then the Magister Militum Ultrusque, appeared.
"It seems like you young gentlemen seem to like nothing better than to tattle tale like fish wives. I think a spell some where more dangerous may change your minds or even appreciate the dangers of battle and why such things happen.
I would not get too cosy here in the capital what the emperor or the commaders decise is not open for discussion or repeating on the streets. You are supposed to be officers of the future not market stall holders discussing the price of goods. Interest your selves in tactics and weapons they will be more use to you....."
with that he left followed by 3 competent looking bodyguards.....

For Gaius, the sweat stains spread copiously. He remained steady at cleaning his armor... as he resettled somewhere else.

Darius had watched the entire encounter, glad that he wasn't among the group being called out by a superior. He'd taken great care to do exactly as the veteran soldier suggested; study tactics and strategy, and demonstrate his abilities in both. In one hand, he felt bad that a friend like Gaius got called out, on the other hand, there was a little voice in the back of his head that thought it just considering the work he himself had put in. When all was said and done, Darius finally walked up to Gaius and gave him a pat on the shoulder. "Not exactly the way you want to get noticed around here."
