Gaius Porcis visited the records officer of the Imperial Army. He left after a brief conversation in which he was chagrined to learn that there were no troops assigned to the defense of Sicily. Nor was there a civil infrastructure to run the cities and countryside. Perhaps he was meant to send the costs on to Lord Patricius who had ordered his posting there. This should prove interesting. Perhaps too he was to purchase a navy to service the island. Amazing what needed doing. Lastly, he wondered why a wayward boatload of Goths had not landed as yet and simply taken back the island.

OOC: As far as state-owned troops, there are 10,000 Comesitanes and 2,000 Hunnic Heavy Cavalry on that island. It might not be reflected on the site. But they're there. Trust me. And an overall Western Fleet of 200 dromon warships, based out of Africa and Sicilia.
